Jurisprudence from international bodies

Because environmental treaties generally do not establish complaint or petition procedures, cases concerning the impact of environmental harm on individuals and groups have often been brought to international human rights bodies.

These international bodies have often addressed the linking of human rights, health and environmental protection in cases and complaints and sometimes in General Comments. They have also posed questions to states about the topics during their consideration of periodic state reports.
